Anxiety and depression

I am battling anxiety and depression after the news of my possible layoff. Can someone dm me and just talk to me for a while.

Where do you work? Remember, a low time is an opportunity to rise even further than ever before. Don’t take it too hard.

Ugh that's terrible. I'm sorry. I've been through six layoffs in seven years in the Bay Area. Sucks that it's part of the investor startup lifestyle here. 🤗♥️

Thank you for the concern. I am upset at so many levels and being on a visa the difficulty finding a new job adds to the pressure.

You're welcome. I'm American, so I have it way easier, although I definitely have had my fair share of anxiety and depression. Hold strong when you can. Start interviewing early and remind yourself that this will pass. Also, take time for self-care. Treat yourself when you can right now.

My advice is don’t be afraid to go to the doctor and get a prescription if you feel you are unable to get out of this rut. It sucks that there is a stigma associated with mental health. It’s not any different than physical health and we wouldn’t tell a diabetic to try to manage their sugar without insulin so why do we tell people with mental health issues to power through them? It’s messed up. Anyway, best of luck and if you are in tech the market is pretty good right now so keep your head up.

It’s tough while being on a Visa, Talk to psychological counselor, check if that helps , try to relax (get a massage or something) so that u can focus on finding jobs

Did you ever get a D or an F in school? A layoff is just that. Most people's lives turn around for the better after a layoff. So, don't worry about what will happen, but plan on how you will take charge of your life once the strings are cut-off. Keep your chin up, always!

Think of the layoff to possibly change your career, if for whatever reason you didn't like that career path you now have the opportunity to change that or look into schooling or certs. Depending on the severance, you can also take some time to leave the bay and relax. Last time I was laid off I used my time to do just that and interviewed in cities I wanted to move to, it was fun while it lasted. Also, put yourself on all the recruiter tools: Hired, LinkedIn, Stella.ai, Woo, etc and make sure to fill out all your career interests, it flips a switch on the back end and surfaces your profile more easily for them like paid search.
