Anyone wants to make money in SV and move to Midwest when getting old?
I am gonna take a mortgage in Sunnyvale probably. Plan to sell it when getting older (40 maybe?), and then get a relaxed job and buy a mansion in Midwest.

I'm from Midwest, and I know how it's like. No big tech companies and low pay. If you have years of experience in top tech companies, that would be a different story. You can find a senior or a lead position, and pay might be even better considering the living cost.
Salesforce has plenty of offices in midwest. Dont make as much as San Fran, but way cheaper cost of living. Google also has offices in Chicago.
Chicago is also expensive. Do they have engineering team in Midwest, or just support?

You know Cerner? I thought not many people know about it. I'm actually an ex-Cerner. Moved to the Bay Area working for one of FAANG already. Cerner can be a backup plan although they don't pay SWEs well. However, I can definite buy a mansion in KC for 1M. Look what you can buy in SV for 1M.
I have extended family in KC. I am in Seattle though. Not as bad as SV but getting there.
