Someone here called it a tire fire. Is it really that bad? Love to hear anyone’s experience doing software there.
Dated a girl who worked there. She said it was ok in nyc.
Did she mention any reason it was ok and not awesome?
Pay is meh
Whoever decided to force you to pick an emoji when you type a message should be fired.
Wat
Hmm, it doesn’t really force you, does it? It gives you the option to substitute an emoji, but you can always just ignore it and keep typing.
At least back in UC Berkeley everyone is using it. Most convenient payment method on the market.
It is a tire fire.
Do tell
Yes please do!
Bump. any other thoughts? I’ve considered applying
Hey guys, how's the situation right now, is it improving? I was very impressed by the nice guys who I did phone screens with, it seems like things are not that bad, they themselves like it there. There are issues in every company, I wonder if Venmo just has the usual growth pains (refactor the monolith, migrate to containers, teach the devs to make Helm charts, polish the release cycle pipelines, etc') of it is really that bad as described above? Does the management takes steps to improve the situation with turnover? Do they invest in talent?
