Which one do you prefer or have more reputation when you have candidates from both Apple and Amazon in interviews? I see most of the folks from Amazon go to Google, Facebook and other top companies, rarely any posts from Apple folks. Amazon has more good engineers than Apple? @google @facebook @netflix
Apple way more prestigious on your resume. Not sure about TC though. Anyone know?
Apple is more prestigious. May be apple employees aren’t that desperate to switch because of their massive refreshers? I known people IRL who moved from G to Apple. But don’t know anyone moving from G to Amazon. You might be able find 1 or 2 examples though if you search extensively on Blind.
Any more Amazon much more than Apple.
Amazon can be a nice place but that is highly dependant on team
Yeah, Amazon should almost be considered a bunch of related companies. Some are awesome. Some suck.
I agree with this. Left Amazon to go to Google... TBH I liked Google - the perks and pay were nice - but I preferred the people I actually worked with at Amazon. Culture was scrappier and people at Amazon were great (I worked in AWS and a ML group.) Both are huge companies and there's a ton of interval variation.
Apple has pretty bad WLB. Check their parking lot at 9pm.
Shit on Amazon TC all you want but there is no way any tech company comes close enough to the shit Amazon is doing. AWS, kindle, go store, echo.
That's highly subjective. Apple created the iPhone, nothing like it before that. I would put that above most innovations. But that's just imo.
Apple created the iPhone in 2007. It was cool. Steve was a cool guy. It's unclear to me that Apple has another Steve.
Per levels.fyi Amazon pays a little more, and isn't super Cali centric (thus $$ goes further)
Another reputation post? Dude, reputation means shit.. what matters is, good comp, good team, good work where you can grow in career. Be it any company, yes having a Google, FB, Apple, Amazon etc. on your resume opens the doors to each other that otherwise wouldn’t necessarily entertain you. That’s about it..
Reputation matters. There are many talented engineers who won’t even get a recruiter phone call because they work for non-prestigious companies. Also culture matters. Amazon is pretty well known for promoting toxic behaviors. It also has the lowest hiring bar among the top companies. Which is why everyone is ex-google, ex-FB etc. while Amazon folks are like ex-faang.
Have you worked at Amazon before? How do you know the company promotes toxic behavior
Amazon has better engineering reputation
Avoid Amazon like the plague. It’s the Walmart of the tech world. The people working there aren’t that smart and management is the worst I’ve ever seen in my life (and I used to wait tables where management was downright atrocious)
Not true. Enjoy your PIP.
