I failed the interview at Amazon last year. I was told I can reapply after 6 months. After 6 months, I was contacted by several other Amazon recruiters, but when I sent them my resume, they either ghosted or told me to reapply after 1 year. I have this feeling that recruiters will refuse to give me another chance even if the 1 year period passes. Are they usually only interested in people with no tracked interviews with the company? Not sure how to get second chance at FAANG.
I failed onsite at Amazon. 1 year later, passed it. Dont think they care.
How hard did you fail? Did you feel you did ok or did you fail spectacularly?
Recruiters are interested to hire as many as possible.
It depends on the feedback recorded along with your failed onsite. If the recruiter feels it could have gone either way he/she will be happy to put you through again after 6mo. If it was really bad, he/she may not think it’s worth the effort.
I interviewed for 2 positions over 3-4 months before accepting a 3rd. The first two failed because I wasn’t a good fit for the role. The teams liked me and were positive about me being “an Amazonian” but I needed a larger scope of responsibilities. After my second fail, the recruiter gave me the one year speech. I reached back out to her a month later about a new role, she passed me to a new recruiter, and I was ultimately hired. Based on my experience, the one year thing is not a hard and fast rule but more of a guideline.
I think this is accurate. I got the reject and recycle outcome from my on-site. The only thing that was clear was I couldn't re-apply for the exact same job I just got turned down for. Now I wasn't sure if that just meant the same team, or the role overall. Guessing the role. I'll likely just re-apply in a year after getting some newer projects under my belt.
I got rejected recently. I got the reject/recycle - apply for other roles speech. I've noticed the recruiters just aren't quick to respond - ever. You kinda need to keep hounding them to get anywhere.
Did you fail the phone screen or on-site?
I failed the onsite
Does it really matter?
