Are salaries in Austin very different from Seattle?

I have an offer out and am wondering how do I establish baseline.

For example, does Amazon pay their L7 managers the same as they pay in Seattle?

How much can I expect to get paid in Austin for an Amazon L7 manager role

Would aim for M2 as a minimum if I wanted to consider FB. They aren’t hiring much in Austin though

M2 is pretty competitive and hard to get as an external hire. Also the expectations even at M1 are already pretty high. I’d rather got the top M1 offer and promoted internally than underperformed and ramped up at M2.

65k rsu seems low. Does it vests in 4 years or do you get 65k vesting every year? Your Amazon offer of 450k seems like a very good offer for Austin. Wonder how much homeaaway pays to senior director?

65K allocates each year with a 4-year vesting cycle. Equal distribution. I believe Sr Directors get 95K allocated per year

Funny how the OP is asking Seattle and Austin, but Seattleites wanna compare themselves to Bay Area.

Don’t wanna move to Bay Area. Netflix had reached out but right now, I don’t wanna uproot my family and move to Bay Area

I don't see anything funny. OP is sensible and realistic. Many move from bay area to Austin too.

The comment wasn’t directed to OP, it was directed to Seattleites, who immediately jump on comparing themselves with bay area even though the post was about comparing Seattle and Austin.

Salaries in the Bay Area, Seattle, Austin, and Houston appear to be all about the same to me.

Weirdly, DFW seems to pay about 30% less...

DFW doesn’t seem to have much more than code monkeys as it pertains to talent and therefore market rate is way lower. Most of the talent I know in the area works remote

Salaries in Seattle are on par with BA.
    Now answer your question.

Not true at Amazon. BA is about 15% higher across the board.

I just took a job at Amazon Austin and from what I can tell my TC is pretty much in line with SDE2 from Seattle; maybe on the lower side of the band but definitely take home and savings will vastly exceed my counter parts in Seattle

There should be no difference in take home for same salary between Seattle and Austin, as there is no state tax in both states. Cost of living is low in Austin for sure compared with Seattle.
