This happened in college and is continuing to happen now. I can’t sleep early. It’s impacting my memory now while I work.

You might lack sleep hygiene. No blue light 2h before you sleep (install f.lux on your computer and phone). Try waking up the same time everyday (including weekends) and starting your day with at least 20min of physical activity ideally combined with sunlight exposure. Limit coffee to 1 cup per day and no caffeine whatsoever after lunch. I guarantee you your sleep will improve by factor 2-3. If you want to learn why read “Why we sleep” by Matthew Walker.

^ this is the right answer. Trust me OP I have the same exact affliction. Everytime I start getting insomnia i do what VMware stated. If you can’t do the no blue light, be sure to do the exercise; you’ll pass out like a baby

Also, Matthew Walker has a podcast with Joe Rogan. Hands down one of the most insightful podcasts I’ve heard to this date. Might change your mind in a lot of things

  • Try taking melatonin supplement at night, and switch off the lights and don't look at any screens when you're trying to sleep.

They don’t have health benefits at Amazon? It could be nothing or any number of very serious up to life threatening conditions. Talk to your doctor instead of asking a bunch of bozos on a bulletin board!

@Intel a sudden change in sleepiness and notable increase in mental fatigue can be symptoms of any number of things. Can’t hurt to learn meditation, but it won’t do much for a brain tumor.

Sure there’s a chance that he’s got a brain tumor. But he’s definitely lacking vision changes, speech changes, loss of motor control, seizures, mental aptitude, or a bunch of other effects that typically come from brain tumors. Lack of sleep is known to be detrimental to working memory.

On the other hand, he has an anxious belief that his brain is dying. He’s working in a high stress environment like Amazon and has returned to a behavior from college, which was likely another high stress environment. Plenty of people post all over this app about depression and anxiety that is somewhat brought about by professional life. The likelihood that he is in the throes of the anxiety - depression link is extremely high given his symptoms and history.

Workout a lot, no screens an hour before bed, maintain a consistent schedule and lay off the caffeine. Sleep problems come from an unhealthy lifestyle

No caffeine, magnesium, no screens one hour before, stretching and reading a book all helped me. Also if you're worrying about work tell yourself there's nothing you can do until tomorrow.
