Brain is dying. Can’t sleep early

This happened in college and is continuing to happen now. I can’t sleep early. It’s impacting my memory now while I work.

Try taking melatonin supplement at night, and switch off the lights and don't look at any screens when you're trying to sleep.

You might lack sleep hygiene. No blue light 2h before you sleep (install f.lux on your computer and phone). Try waking up the same time everyday (including weekends) and starting your day with at least 20min of physical activity ideally combined with sunlight exposure. Limit coffee to 1 cup per day and no caffeine whatsoever after lunch. I guarantee you your sleep will improve by factor 2-3. If you want to learn why read “Why we sleep” by Matthew Walker.

^ this is the right answer. Trust me OP I have the same exact affliction. Everytime I start getting insomnia i do what VMware stated. If you can’t do the no blue light, be sure to do the exercise; you’ll pass out like a baby

Also, Matthew Walker has a podcast with Joe Rogan. Hands down one of the most insightful podcasts I’ve heard to this date. Might change your mind in a lot of things

They don’t have health benefits at Amazon? It could be nothing or any number of very serious up to life threatening conditions. Talk to your doctor instead of asking a bunch of bozos on a bulletin board!

Being sleepy and mentally fatigued from being sleepy is only life threatening in the sense that you could walk in front of a bus or fall asleep at the wheel. Western medicine is an expensive route to find out how to balance your body and mind. They would rather prescribe Ambien anyway

@Intel a sudden change in sleepiness and notable increase in mental fatigue can be symptoms of any number of things. Can’t hurt to learn meditation, but it won’t do much for a brain tumor.

No caffeine, magnesium, no screens one hour before, stretching and reading a book all helped me. Also if you're worrying about work tell yourself there's nothing you can do until tomorrow.

Standard Cognition Jehd Apr 4, 2019

Workout a lot, no screens an hour before bed, maintain a consistent schedule and lay off the caffeine. Sleep problems come from an unhealthy lifestyle
