Btw, as someone who makes close to that in Seattle it will soon look like it is not enough, especially when you start looking for a million dollars house and a 5M retirement nest egg. Don’t know what is enough 😁

Lol - for now wife and I are definitely planning on staying put. We have a nice house with enough room for the kiddos. Want to pay it off so I don’t have to worry about the roof

Lol - my goal is to pay off my mortgage ASAP so definitely want to at least let my RSUs vest
      Apr 5
    • Facebook public2
Well that would be silly unless your mortgage rate is more than 8%... you gotta start thinking and acting like a wealthy person so someday you can be :)

      OP
But the idea of freedom from a mortgage is so blissful! What is your advice, reading recommendations on how to manage the comp jump?
      Apr 5
    • Facebook public2
If being mortgage free is higher value than having more money to you that's fair. Unfortunately that's not a lot of money so advice would be to avoid lifestyle creep and instead invest it heavily until your passive income meets or exceeds your earned income. At that point you are rich and can start partying.

I wish I started from the bottom. Starting from the top make you never satisfied
    Apr 5 3
    • I wish I started from the top. Starting from the bottom makes you exhausted, question your abilities, and has a high opportunity cost. It's like being thrown in a swimming pool without knowing how to swim. You don't die but you struggle to keep yourself alive.

Whaaaaat? No alcohol 😫 what's all that TC for if you can't drink. I'd get hammered to celebrate (have family too).

      OP
No offers, but had a few other opportunities in the hopper. Negotiations were really based off the data points here on Blind and understanding how far I could push without being absurd :) also politeness helped :)

Did they ask your current comp? Interesting that they didn’t anchor based on current pay.
      Apr 5
    • Oracle pzd
They can't anchor based on current pay if you don't tell them. In many states (not sure about OPs) it is illegal for a prospective employer to ask your current salary.

So I'm always confused with the IC to management track mapping. I've seen senior engg numbers around 380k and staff level at 500k for IC. How does this map to SDM, SSDM and Directors?
