Career Advice

Hi all, I’m currently working at Oracle for the last 1.5 years as a software engineer. I have a bachelors from one of the IITs, no masters. I have pretty decent quantative reasoning skills and was accepted for PhD programme in a top 10 school (not top 4) for Theoretical Computer Science I have extensive experience in Math Olympiad and ICPC competitions, though I could't represent the country but was ranked pretty decently in the national level. Also know a fair bit of advanced math like martingale theory and measure theory. Would like to be a quant but know its not possible right now. How much would getting a part time MS in Applied Math/Stats help me assuming I get into a place like Stanford/NYU/Columbia. Also I am interested in low latency programming so would appreciate any referrals. Tc: 120, yoe:1.5

My first piece of advice is to learn how to spell career.

Sorry didn't spellcheck it.

Shouldn't really need it.

There is a public group chat called "Mathematics" if you're interested

You lost me at "Oracle"

Oracle vAPF84 OP Aug 23, 2019

I joined Oracle because they gave me an h1b right after an undergrad from India.

Yeah and I ate at Taco Bell six hours ago and haven't quit shitting my brains out, but you don't see me trying to justify it either 🥴
