Hello I'm considering an offer for VP (software) from Citi for their innovation labs. Any hints on what they're doing? What's the environment there and what's the general environment in Citi? YOE 6. TC irrelevant as I'm not US based
TC or GTFO! And location.
Lol no location
6 YOE and VP? What magic are you doing?
Masters. Also, I had a good career path.
If you pick a rock and throw it in a random corner, itll hit a citi vp. Everyone is a VP.
What is TC , depends on that really
They didn't say specifically but they mentioned something around 120k for London
Ponds or dollah?
What is the location? Different Citi innovation labs in different areas focus on different things (tel aviv has one focus vs. Singapore vs. Dublin, etc.). Also, VP in financial services is not the same as in tech. Entry level = avp, next is vp (usually 5 to 10 yrs exp), svp, then director (usually about 15 yrs), then managing director (20+ yrs).
London
Iโm a VP at my bank and in the first round for an AVP role at Citi - but the pay is higher. So weird.
That lab supports markets and securities services. Iโve heard they focus on data science/visualizations and ML. Citi is a big company, with a lot of policies, and it can be difficult to get work done, but thatโs true in any big, company. Typically, in the labs, you will be helping (in)validate feasibility of hypothesis from business and product partners. Often, folks that work in software dev there enjoy that they get to work on different things/new tech pretty frequently to keep their skill sets up. If you are cool with the total comp and the people you have met, seems like a good opportunity. Really push the get a director level role if you can. Citi have been reducing the numbers of director promotions the last 5-ish years, so more competitive than previously, especially in tech. Let me know if you have other questions.
My man. Thanks
Hi, Bob.
