I got this offer to work for a startup in Columbus: Base 130k Bonus 10% Stock options 300k/4 years TC ~$218K L4 4 YOE What do you think? I've never been to the midwest so I don't know what to expect.
What company? Ohio is basically free (am from Ohio) 218k/yr is very comfortable Midwest. Columbus may be a bit more expensive, but not wildly so
DM me, they can probably ID me if I post it over here
Holy fuck dude. Accept. That's not an awful offer even in Seattle. In the Midwest that's a fucking fortune. Especially if you're willing to commute 30 to 45 min, you can get yourself a 300k house and land that would cost 2.5 mil in Seattle.
Source: I'm from Ohio. Fucking love it. And live in Seattle currently. What's the company??

That’s an amazing salary for Columbus
Amazing salary for Columbus, You would live like a king.
Thanks! Seems like everyone thinks I should take it, I just don't know how's life like over there
There's an area called the short north that's pretty hipster -- it's the most "gentrified" area of Columbus, in the true sense of what comes to mind when you think of that word. OSU's main campus is located in Columbus, and it's over 30,000 students IIRC. But Columbus isn't even what's considered a college town. It's not a bunch of corn fields, which is what I bet you're worried about. Also, prepare for the winter. I do not miss the snow.
Columbus is amazing. Small city full of nice people. Gotta love football though
Congrats! that’s amazing!!
Former East Coaster with friends there. Take it. You will live well and it’s got more than people know about - the sports, uni, fantastic botanical garden (one of the best in the country), amazing zoo, growing nightlife and bar/restaurant scene with younger crowd who know the secret about it - low cost of living. You will have four true seasons there but they will be beautiful and striking if that makes sense. Cold, snowy winters and hot and humid summers.
You’ll love it. Worse case, you hate it for 2 years, fly out every weekend, and still save a ton of $$
Do it. Columbus is awesome area so long as you can handle some cold/snow. There’s decent startup scene for a moderately sized city. People, food and entertainment there is great. And as noted, COL is relativity low. I’m originally from Cleveland and looking to move from LA to CBus eventually.
Thanks! I decided to take it given so many positive comments!
Good luck. I’d be interested in your feedback / experience after you’ve moved if you don’t mind sharing. You can DM me.
I’m not very familiar with Midwest salaries but first impression is that it’s pretty good
