Microsoft has announced that it will initiate your green card process based on “priorities,” which does not have a clear definition. If I understand their language correctly, they won’t initiate this process at all if you don’t reach a certain “priority” level. This is a dangerous slope. What if they refuse to assign you a higher priority simply because you don’t work overtime? Microsoft also claims that they did this because they want to withstand the scrutiny of the US government. If that’s the case, then probably every US company that sponsors employment-based green card will initiate this process by a quota or priority requirement. Does your company have a quota or a priority requirement?
Now with PP always on the rocks, this is a great move for companies. They know we can't move, they know we are fucked. The only way is when we leave companies, tell them this policy was the reason why we are leaving.
Wait I don't think Google fucks their employees like Microsoft. Are you implying Google did something similar?
Luckily Google hasn't - but if it slowly becomes Norm, it will be not out of Norm if Google did it in future. All that I am saying is, this is very slippery slope like you said
So you admit there’s no clear definition and then assume a definition for yourself and insinuate its the one true definition rather than ask legal about what the priority is? Did you not think it might be based on need, with those whose visa is about to expire right at the top of the queue?
Did not expect that from Microsoft (
It was sudden, but it happened
