I have an New Grad FTE offer from Microsoft but it has a very short deadline to accept or reject (less than 10 days). I still have interviews coming up with Google and Uber. The recruiter won’t extend the deadline and there’s chance I don’t get an offer from Google or Uber so I don’t want to reject them. How to deal with that situation ?
What’s the TC, location etc? And how confident are u in getting offers from others like G and U?
TC not that high as it’s in Europe and I think I got the max possible after negotiation. For G and U I passed the phone screen and have one full time month to prepare (I don’t have school right now) but there’s still luck involved in the process and also new grad spots are limited so don’t know.
Also team doesn’t look interesting. All interesting work seems to be in the US, they mostly do maintenance and bug fixing.
Accept the offer and you can always renege, it looks bad but if you don't want to work for that company because you have a better offer than it doesn't really matter.
They can probably extend it for Uber but Google takes way too from what I've seen. I have seen people have their offers extended in the past though so it is possible it just depends on your recruiter. You can also create technical difficulties for yourself on the career portal and it will easily take months before it's resolved.
Please put your offer details for others benefit
Still in negotiation but I will when I get final package. It’s not very interesting considering the CoL of the city.
Decided to reject the offer was 520000 DKK base/20k stocks over 4 years and 12k euros relocation in Copenhagen. Considering high taxes, CoL and also 2.2 score on Glassdoor I don’t think it was a good offer so I rejected. The team doesn’t seem interesting also.
They are in some places in Europe.
You can accept and reneg. Serves them right for trying to pressure you like this.
I don't know what everyone's is acting so surprised. This is how it's always been for Microsoft New Grad FTE. I had the exact same 10 days and so did my friends. No recruiter increased the deadline.
Take that offer. Interview at other places. If you get in those companies leave MS, else stay 😊
It's not very common for offers to be that exploding. It's possible he/she is just rushing you into acceptance. This happened with me for sure, once I joined, I didn't understand the need for that urgency. Remmber, recruiters' performance is based on how many accepts they bring every cycle, if the hiring manager liked you, it's likely they'll extend the offer after the deadline expires. Understand that there a lot of words like "likely", "possible" in my above comment, and that was intentional.
They told me about this deadline before I interviewed (I asked). But they increased the package twice after negotiation. Still I’m not huge fan of the team.
How about joined the team and then switching internally after some time? I don't remmeber how long is the waiting period for that.
Nope. That’s too soon for any reasonable turnaround
