Recently found I was losing interest in most things I have been doing. Have been working hard for the last 2 years. Everything seems like a burden now and whatever i do seems worthless. Consulted a doctor and it was found i am mildly depressed. Any of you been through this? What did you do to get out of it?
I am under same situation. I am diagnosed with clinical depression. Travel helps , spending more time with family and friends is helping. Thinking of taking a new hobby and learn a new skill.
I lost interest on stuff I do and the life I am living long time back. Only way to reenergize is socialize. Talk with people who have something to gain or lose. If you earned enough, than visit Africa or somewhere where you can see the harshness of real life than you would appreciate whatever you got. Basically you need a new Goal in life.
Google for 'Google depression test'. It is simple and helpful
And have you read their privacy statement. They will use some anonymous data to their advantage. And the organization they have tied up with isn't even government recognized. It may be a helpful test but I'm worried about what they could do with that data. Misplaced fear?? Maybe.
Don't take meds. Exercise, rest, socialize, add more variety to your life.
In my case I had to leave my job because it was part of the problem. I don't necessarily recommend that due to finances etc. I took time to reflect and develop hobbies while I had no work to do. Now I have a reason to force myself not to work all the time. Take it easy. There's a lot of people in the same boat, but don't accept it. Make some changes.
Do something new that you haven't tried yet.... Go out, meet new people, it helps
Exercise is super important - try to make it a priority every day. Diet is the next most important thing to address, followed by sleep. Focus on making your schedule very regular.
Be kind to yourself, even if is hard don't skip on little pleasures, don't hide from social interaction. Being with friends, with family - helps a lot
I found that this helped quite a lot more than I anticipated. It will probably be harder at first, but focus a bit more on doing things that made you feel happy.
Sleep is very necessary, otherwise you get in a vicious cycle: you don't like what you , you need more time to mobilize to do regular stuff like work, you skip on sleep, and then you are tired and are doing the work even slower...which is depressing

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Take meds, exercise, view your willpower as the scarce resource it is, take sick days when you really don't feel like working
^this. But id put 'take meds' as last option unless you have severe depression. Most of the times, healthy diet, regular exercise and disconnecting from work to focus on other things will do the trick.
Yeah, good point. Don't start out with meds. They cause sexual problems and make everything feel very flat.
