I mean a significant amount not like $20 to a bum
Does wikipedia count?
A close friend runs a nonprofit that I volunteer at so I donate a lot to that (yay tax break for supporting my own cause). And I “donate” to various low-budget creative projects in the Bay Area although those aren’t really charities. I’ve never given significant money to some huge generic nonprofit, what’s the real impact?
I used to. I didn't this year because the standard deduction is now so high that I won't get any tax break.
I donated a lot , then found out that charities I donated had board members making $500K a year and that really pissed me off . Now I donate to volunteer only orgs like AID and ASHA
I donate time and money to volunteer orgs
About $5K/year
5k of my own money...15k with company match and paid time match
I can never be sure where the money really goes. I haven’t made time to investigate charities that don’t set money on fire.
GiveWell is a good source for high-efficiency charities.
