Happening with other big tech too, I heard. Nothing wrong with it, you’re laying off plenty of people and lots of Americans out there looking for jobs.
FACTS ⬆️
It's labour dept policy like Walmart said
Thank goodness
The only thing I have to say is….go on now, git!!
The best news this week! I hope for less foreigners at workplace
You simply can’t after doing a lot of layoff. USCIS will reject PERM
The problem with Amazon is that rolling layoffs is a company policy, with Jassy doubling-down on it throughout 2024. It basically means that anyone at Amazon on a visa will leave when their visa expires, or should look to transfer their visa when the next best opportunity arises. It also means that the continued RTT push is not a viable long-term career move. For Amazon, it's a policy move rather than one forced by USCIS. They can move jobs to India, stop people moving to the US for more money, and cut domestic jobs via bi-monthly layoffs to reduce costs. While PERM might be rejected, it's worth noting that each separate entity at Amazon is laying off a very small number of people each month. I had assumed their goal was to keep laying off while not enraging the government through cutting local jobs.
