Senior eng
$180k cash
$260k worth of RSU over 4 years, 1 year cliff then monthly

Total first year comp : 250

Hope this helps those who are looking to join. for those more familiar with market rate, is the RSU kinda low for company at this size? What's a reasonable total comp to aim for?

Sounds quite good. Looking at their growth trajectory it's quite amazing, I'd say that your rsu have significant upside. They went from tied 4th in the industry to number 1 in a one year up against strong competitors i.e. uber talent and execution and grubhub entrenched long time leader

Not offered, but I also didn't ask, is it easier to ask for signing bonus than higher RSU?

Signing bonus shows how committed they are to having you stay. Without it, I would ask for immediate vesting rather than one year cliff.

I don't think YOE is that important, E5 with 3 yr experience and 20 still belong to the same salary band and need to meet similar expectations

They could be worth money if they do IPO? Probably should be evaluated at a discount compared to RSUs from public firm, although I don't know if there is a good way to price the discount

Yeah. You should also check what happens if you lwavethe company (do you keep them) and when they get taxed. In any case I would put a large discount.

The only reason Id join a startup would be if I really believed that they could make it big. Sortof like playing the lottery with better odds

No cash bonus, but promised that stock refresher are typically granted for good performance, even without promotion to next band

Seems to be typical start up offer of less cash liability for investors.

Good offer. How many stocks (unit) though? That number is highly inflated for sure

Could go up or down, there is risk for sure. Hence I thought pre-IPO firms would pay more in stock to compensate for the risk.
