Echo Dot for Free!?
Does anyone at @Amazon know why echo dots where being sold for free with an audible discount code applied at checkout? I have one shipping to me on Tuesday

Audible promotion keyed wrong. Should have been a perk for subscribing. Lots of orders before it was quickly fixed

Serious question: am I the only one uncomfortable with the idea of having an always-on listening device in my house that sends everything it records to who-knows-where?
Do you also have a smartphone that tracks your location everywhere you go?
It only sends audio up after it hears the wake word. If you don't believe it you can build a diy version with a ras pi. Lots of tutorials out there. Dots specs are about that same level of processing power.
I bookmarked the CoE and the phonetool link to the guy who keyed the promotion. Will check every week or so to see if he's still employed. CoE should be a fun read.

I am hoping we would honor them. We've got a lot of PR out of this which I am sure is worth more than the echoes we gave away. As to the employee, we are human and stuff happens. He should not be fired unless he or she has a history of this type of stuff.
Most likely outcome of the COE is a bunch of teams have to add more warnings and safeties into their systems.

It expired :/ but all you had to do was search ‘2nd gen echo dot,’ and one to your cart, and proceed to checkout. At checkout the balance came out to $0
