I have been an engineering manager (L6) for last few years managing engineering teams with SDMs and TPMs. I have an offer from a competitor for a “Group” Program manager role - managing group of TPMs and Solution Architects; TC for the role- 487K and 50k sign on. The scope and breadth seems interesting. With a small infant, I am looking temporarily for work life balance without any oncalls, daily ticket escalations, pages etc. This role has bunch of senior / Principal TPMs and equivalent solution architects reporting into the person. Any opinions on if this move is a “downgrade” careerwise?
487k...
Yeah, no way earning that without stock appreciation at Amazon as L6. Probably half that. This seems like a no brainer.
Sounds like GPM at Microsoft. Op why are you being so cryptic?
MSFT has a TPM position?
