We've got quite a long notice period at my Company. Once I announced my resignation he never bothered to do our regular one-on-one again. After I have left the company for one month, he contacted me again via LinkedIn, starting with "Hey, how are you.... yada yada" and then "What is the name of the company you are working in?". Is there any harm in answering him? Sooner or later I'll update my LinkedIn profile anyway, so the world would see it anyhow.
He is probably looking for a job...
This is the only correct answer.
What harm are you expecting? And isn't it normal to cancel 11s after knowing the resignation? I am not saying it's decent, but no need to feel pissed off by this, we are all adults.
Take the meeting and be civil. However, be very guarded. Don't tell him anything that you're working on and only say positive things about your former and current companies. He has a reason for wanting to talk to you and you'll find out during that meeting. It's possible he's looking for competitive intelligence which is why you need to remain tight lipped. If he is looking for a job and wants your help, then you can tell him you aren't interested in that because of how he treated you when you left. He could also be looking to apologize for being a jerk.
Cant the team lead see where you are working in your Linkedin profile ?
Why would you want to burn the bridge, he could be helpful in the future.
I don’t understand “don’t burn bridges” concept at all. What’s the point of keeping it if it’s shitty? Never be afraid to burn a bridge if it is broken and useless already.
Burn the ships!
