why is Msft not included or considered to be included as part of FANG
Let me rephrase it .. why was Msft not included or considered to be included as part of FANG
Because you can’t make a word with the letter M with the other FANG letters.
FAMG
GMAF
It is about pay.
Simple answer. Ballmer’s “Lost decade”. It’ll take Satya years and years to climb out of that hole.
Could u explain more on that ?
Ballmer was CEO for a decade and the company missed every opportunity to buy competitors or enter new markets, which are now dominated by competitors. As a result the stock went nowhere for those whole 10 years. No investor saw a future outside of office and windows, which was losing more and more dominance while Apple, Google, and Amazon chipped away at the companies relevance and poached the talent out of Microsoft. Satya is very capable and is turning the company around. But it’ll take a while.
Fang or faang is a cnbc term for high growth tech stocks. Msft is finally starting to move now but took 17 years to reach its last all time high.
I wondered how far I'd have to go for the first decent answer.
MAGA - MSFT, Apple, Google, Amazon
All it has to do with is stock price growth. It was invented by Jim Cramer or something like that. Microsoft stock has done ok lately but was very stagnant for a long time, therefore, not in that club. The generally clueless denizens of Blind have warped it into meaning something else and those of you with your panties in a wad about it got duped.
We should replace it with an engineering specific term. I suggest Microsoft, Apple, Netflix and Google Engineers, or MANGE.
These stupid ass terms like FANG and Big 4 need to go away.
I believe the point is they were all Internet companies. Thus, Microsoft wasn’t really relevant to the acronym. I think the more interesting question is why you care that Microsoft is not part of FANG. It doesn’t matter at all.
Because FANG stands for Facebook, Apple, Netflix, and Google lol
*Facebook, Amazon, Google, Netflix
Oops you right. I answered too fast
