FB -> Google -> FB

Has anyone made this path? I came to Google from FB around an year ago and a FB recruiter keeps sending me emails every few weeks saying I don't need to interview again to go back. I'm not seriously considering going back since I'm happy at Google, but curious about what the experience is like. Does comp stay the same as when you left? do you get another RSU package? Do you go through the regular bootcamp process? why did you make both moves?

    I did that. The answer to your questions depends a lot on the timing. If it has been more than 1 year then you get a full loop and a full new package.

    Yes you go through bootcamp again but this time it is less stressful if you already have picked your team.

      The recruiter said I could skip interviews if I came back before 18 months. Which makes sense since they'd be giving enough time for some vesting at the other company this way.

      Google was too slow moving with too much process. Project that would take 3 months at fb would take forever because people liked complexity and adding on dependencies with no sense of validating their hypothesis first.

      That’s because Facebook “move fast” vs “move normal “ at other companies. Feel the same way after jump from FB to LinkedIn.

    I think the company policy is to hire you back without an interview if you join within 1 year but optionally do a semi loop if you join after 1. And a full loop (with prospect of higher level) when you are 2 years away. I did this: rejoined the company and was told that no changes in comp and RSU. But a new vesting cliff was added.

      you mean a renewed full grant or the remaining value you left behind?

      Sorry for being less clear: I meant full grant. For example if I was initially hired at 200k initial grant, and when I left I had say 100k un vested. So when I rejoined they offered me the same cash compensation and an initial grant of 200k again (ie no new or additional grant but just repeating the same one).
