Seriously, how do you face your families during the holidays when crap like this breaks the evening news? https://investorplace.com/2018/12/facebook-stock-takes-a-shellacking-on-latest-data-sharing-scandal/
I ask if they've read more than the click bait headlines.
I spend my vacation with your wife instead OP
NYT gives the same kind of response they keep attacking others for. Maybe they should investigate themselves first. Every company that had access responded with the limited ways of use. "The New York Times The Times, one of nine media companies named in the documents, developed a social-sharing application called TimesPeople in 2008. The tool incorporated Facebook friend lists and allowed people to share articles and make recommendations to other readers. The feature was shut down in 2011, but The Times continued to have access to friend lists until 2017. The Times spokeswoman said they were unaware of the continued access and were not receiving any data for the feature from Facebook. "
It's a job that pays well and has a lot of potential for career growth. I think you're blowing this out of proportion.
At least I work for a company worth listing on my Blind profile. Do you even have a job?
One word dude: OPSEC.
Whoa! BAD. ASS.
My family is smart enough to know the news is bullshit, otherwise I wouldn’t be working there in the first place.
Lol why do ordinary people think their data is that important? What could Facebook have on Sally that abusing her data is worth the repercussions (stock, fines, pr etc)? Also the latest 'scandal' is FB giving access to partners when users explicitly allow access. Sending songs directly thru the Spotify app using messenger will require permissions to your messenger which you explicitly allow.
“Explicitly” _everyone_ knows that users are sheep and will click “allow” or “agree” or whatever affirmative button is thrown in front of their face immediately without reading the prompt 99% of the time. In my view, saying that the user agreed and taking data like that is just plain wrong. No matter whether you personally think the sharing is of any consequence is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is that many people are not okay with this and many more people would be too if they fully understood what is going on.
I felt bad for those kids who got their Harvard acceptances rescinded bc of memes they put on a FB group chat. Shit I posted as a kid would be verboten now for totes. Always frightening to see a Google SWE spout the “why care if you have nothing to hide” BS
