Master's New Grad L3 SWE An internship in US 2 yoe before master's outside US Base 125 Sign on 27 RSU 150 / 4 Annual bonus 15% target Is it a lowballed offer? (By Blind standard- it is. But overall will it at least be in top 20 percentile?) Should I look for switching in a year or so? What positives I should look for as a trade-off? Would you take this offer vs an offer at another company (130 base, 50 sign on, 180 RSU - not VMware or Amazon btw)? Should I have rather taken the other offer instead of going for Google brand? Will Google brand pay off? Or in terms of learning, will joining Google pay off vs the another company? To talk about numbers- How much annual bonus, additional equity grant, base salary increase typically one gets by being in "meets expectations" status? Please uplift me.
Which role is it for?
Swe
The offer is fine imo
That's around 180k TC excluding sign on. Why do you think you were low balled?
One thing is that I had another offer. Another thing is that this was the first offer and recruiter didn't move the compensation even slightly.
And it's 162 TC. Sign on shouldn't be included right.
Stop reading blind. Take the offer.
The vast majority of L3s get something between 150k and 200k. You will be fine.
Lol you want top 20% @ L3? There are two types of Blind users, greedy and arrogant.
Top 20% among just L3 swe, not all software engineers in the world. And I never wrote that the current offer is less, it's just relatively lower than what Google have paid to others based on data.
Lol what data? The fake salaries you see on Blind? 😂
That’s not a lowball... Experience outside the US isn’t very valuable most of the time. Also grad vs bachelors makes little practical difference most of the time. You got a great offer with a solid base.
2 YOE? Gtfo 😂
You have 0 real Yoe. For a new grad, it is better to optimize for passion, work, culture and pick a company accordingly. It will pay off in the longer term.
Definitely. I was a SWE in very reputed company (although my work was mediocre, nobody really digs so deep to realize that). Hence on paper I have 2 real yoe and an internship. How many checkboxes does Google check in your list?
Nobody even cares about goog/amzn pre grad school experience from India. Very common. Unless you did something exceptionally good.
Did you negotiate??
Yes but had only one competing offer at that time. And Recruiter didn't beat that- may be because he understood I would join anyway. He kept on saying that this is maximum and that B's.
Yeah, they knew they had brand leverage
