GM - Engineering Product Development - Early Career

Just got contacted by a recruiter from GM about an Engineering Product Development (what they call SWEs apparently) role for new grads. From what I've looked into so far, most of the work would be embedded C stuff which I'm not crazy about but I'm good at it for some reason so it's ehhhh. Can anyone share insights about what it's like to work for GM overall? What I'd probably be doing day to day? I'd be moving to Michigan from the Bay Area. How's the CoL? Benefits/TC/WLB? I'd imagine the job security is pretty nice since they're such an institution.

Benefits are great but it’s team dependent

CoL is insane. What is your average spend on rent, utilities, food now?

General Motors rAIF33 Oct 16, 2019

Not nearly as insane as the Bay Area...

@rAIF33 yes, that's what I'm saying, that the bay area is drastically more expensive than other places in the US.

Did they mention TRACK? That’s their job rotation plan that college hires LOVE. They are also major participants in the performance driving team where you can tear around our private facility in sports cars on the weekend for free and learn to drive (better).

The posting was Engineering Product Development - Early Career - TRACK I'm guessing that's their entry level position. Having access to a private track where I can hoon sounds like a pretty sick fringe benefit ngl.
