Frontend Engineer for the last two years but I have a Google interview & I can only interview in Python or Java. I have really been looking to switch to full-stack. Completed over 200 leets in Javascript. Not sure if this is worth it. I now have to learn Python/Java just for this interview. I’m 27 & not sure if this is a good decision. Recruiter said the teams I may be working with use either Python or Java. I would have loved to interview with JavaScript & then pickup the language a few weeks before starting the job. Got Facebook frontend interview coming up but I think being stuck with frontend will affect my career & flexibility in the future. What would you do?
Are you done with your phone interview? I can imagine they might want Python or Java for phone interviews. But for Onsites, you might have the choice to do a few frontend specific interviews. Are they not letting you interview in JS whatsoever?
Recruiter said I could use JS for phone interview but I have to use either Python/Java for onsite
Learn a language not just for interview? Idk it kinda blows my mind that some engineers dont know the handful of languages at least enough to do an interview (c,cpp, java,py,js,php)
I haven’t touched Python in years
