Google L4 negotiation strategy

Got L4 offer from Google. 155/330/40 I am doing onsite with Apple next week. No other interviews in process. YOE 3.5 after master’s Current pay is 150k base + 90k stock + 20k bonus per year. SWE level. I think my interview performance was pretty good. I got interests from 3 teams so far and I am pretty happy with one of the teams. What’s the best strategy to squeeze a bit more comp from Google?

They are basically paying you the same ($260 TC)..use your current comp to negotiate with Google

Yeah, they just magically came up with my current pay. I did not tell them. I heard they don’t use your current comp to negotiate.

I got $155k/$500k/$50k in Seattle as a T4 with less than 4 yoe. Answer is competing offers.

Sounds like you had Facebook?

That’s a nice offer for Seattle. Good job! My offer is for San Bruno. I’ll be very happy with the numbers you got.

I am thinking of bluffing on my current stock pay to see if they are willing to go higher. I’m also hoping they are willing to give me a competitive offer before my interview process finishes with Apple.

Please let us know if they bump your comp up with respect to current pay.

Your current comp on the low end for a Sr SWE. And isn't bonus 10% 15k?

LinkedIn dashazhu OP Oct 23, 2018

But I have got 20K bonus consistently for the past 2 years at LinkedIn. I’m only at SWE level at LI so L4 would be a level up for me. I worked for a startup for about 1.5 years and LI for about 2 years.

LinkedIn goddo Oct 23, 2018

High end for a swe. L4 is a good match wrt that. I always talk about targeted bonus.

LinkedIn dashazhu OP Oct 23, 2018

Nope, Google did not budge even one bit today. I’m going to finish my interview with Apple and see what they have to offer.

Is this the initial stock grant at LinkedIn or were your refreshers pretty high?
