Got an offer from Google Networking Infra (A. Vahdat Org) at Sunnyvale. How is this org in terms of wlb, growth, oncall, and etc? Edit: still looking for more insights and comments on this. As a Googler, how do you describe this org? TC:220
Very high impact. Lots of great projects. WLB is okay but won't go ahead as say it's amazing. Growth opportunity is great. Oncall depends very much on which team. Also, SWE or SRE? Oncall as SWE should be okay as all impactful NetInfra product has SREs.
Thanks for the info. I’ll be SWE in one of the SDN teams. Are you in the same org?
L3 or L4? Did you negotiate?
L4 with a PhD
Impact really depends on which project you will be working on. IMO, those impactful projects are owned by a ‘special’ group of folks. Managers and directors there are friendly though.
Care to mention which ones?
For sure, impact depends on the project. Do you know how political the org is? Leaving Azure Networking as it is too political and decisions are often non-technical.
SDN teams in GCP are really doing some amazing work. What's the offer from Google?
Had a question. During the interview were there questions specific to Networking domain expertise? Would you be able to share the general kind of questions asked?
bump
Did you accept the offer? Wondering if you can throw some light about the ANC team - which org is it part of & how is the growth potential?
Hey OP! Do you think it's worth it to get a PhD in systems and networking and try to get into such a team? Considering one has already an offer for a SWE position at faang (in a regular product group)
Years of experience?
