I would go with Google. In the long run employers will be more inclined to make better offers and your market value will go up.

Google in Dallas. Congrats you’re rich. What does a Customer Engineer do? How is it different from SWE?

Customer engineers are google cloud technical sales engineers. Software background is needed but no where near that of a software engineer role.

Go with Google. VP means nothing at Chase.

VP isn’t jack shit. Don’t do Dallas banking
    It’s back office af

It’s pretty much dead culture with no backing revenue

I know banks have a serious case of title inflation, but is it that bad ? I mean there are new grad offers from non FANG companies which are better than this "VP" offer.

VP at a bank comes after ~7 years of experience out of undergrad

Yes, it is inflated. VP on my team is more like senior.

At JP being a VP is just someone who's relatively senior in a team. Don't even need to lead anyone or be a manager. Lots of VPs sitting everywhere at JP. It's not as special as you might think. Juniors are Associates, following that is VP.

This is a no brainer. Go with Google and negotiate to get a little more bump.

Go with Google. As a tech person, you'd also be frustrated as you're being bound by security checks & balances at banks.

LOL! Google of course. Is that even a serious question?
VP means absolutely nothing at JP. There are VPs everywhere sitting at every corner of JP. And it's not that great of a place for tech anyway. And this is Google we're talking about.

  • Keep in mind either of these are going to be a step away from SWE and you may have a harder time going back to development if you go this route. From what I see on Blind the CE role interview has some development oriented questions but the role is mostly architecting.

Chase should be able to pay you more and Dallas is a banking city, not a tech hub.

Not suggesting one way or another but just wanted to toss out a couple things to think about.

Cost of living is vastly lower in Dallas. Plus bonus comes in up to 20% cash. That's a good offer from JPMC. Infrastructure is hot in it these days too.

    Best of luck.

Living in a low cost of living area and working for Google seems like the best of both worlds. OP will have a very high standard of living, especially if having a family. Wondering what other low to medium cost of living cities have these CME positions?

Negotiate bonus percentage if you do go with Chase. If you don't you'll end up with a 5% cap
