So after I got rejected for the H1B I did the EB-5 Visa and got my green card in 18 months. It's an expensive option but it's worth it IMO.

Edit: My story was covered in the LA times if anyone wants to read: https://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-eb5-visa-explainer-20180410-story.html?outputType=amp

Feel free to pm me about it if anyone has questions.

@Potts, which company's culture are you going to shit on next?

It's not about me knowing. I'm sure someone would benefit from this post. If you don't, you can go on your way to fuck off peacefully.

So you spend half a million or a million to buy a green card while SWEs can get one for free in less than 18 months while earning half a million a year? Anyway, congrats

Also, you don’t “spend” the money. It’s just invested. Yes you may risk it, but the four seasons project sounds pretty legit.

Also, not every SWE in US earns half a million a year. The faster GC gives a better chance at passive income streams too. Instead of waiting in the line for 15 years.

You are kind and helpful. Kudos to you.

But with that kind of money you could have just started something in India if that's your motivation for being in the valley.

Unfortunately for those applying now from India the expected wait time is 5 years. Things got crazy with EB5 popularity among Indians in last 18 months.
