I have been lucky enough to receive an offer from Facebook for a Production Engineer role and Google for SRE role. Both offer E4/L4 level and compensation isn't much different. To be honest for now I don't prioritize the compensation much as long as it is decent enough to live comfortably, What I care more about is how much of a career and self development investment will I be doing when I choose any. That includes which one will boost my experience and help me develop more, which one has a more encouraging culture, career progression? .. etc. From the interview process i had the impression that facebook production team works on a broader set of areas than Google but I might be wrong since interviews shouldn't really mean much here. Any help here is much appreciated
Google moves slow
Facebook infra is quite the spaghetti fest, probably go to google
That spaghetti fest could also mean broader experience. Depends on if you want this to be a long term position or a stepping stone. If long-term, go to Google. If stepping stone, go to Facebook.
I had a similar dilemma. I chose Facebook and got a call from the Google recruiters every year for he next 5. I heard that Google has a special team that follows up on people who rejected them...not sure if that is true but certainly felt like the doors were always open. Good luck and congrats!
Funny that all Facebook guys say Google and Google guys say Facebook
The grass in greener...
Facebook for quicker growth.
FB. Better pay and moves faster. You don't want to deal with the promo process at Google.
SRE? Google is king.
Champagne problem.. congrats!
