Would you rather hire a rockstar or an average talent to join your team? Recently interviewed with a company known for design and found it interesting the hiring manager said they don’t hire rockstars because they have egos. Interested to hear from hiring managers and their general approach to this?
I think culture fit>talent but talent has to at least meet the minimum bar.
Is there ever a point you’d consider the inverse?
Nope
I wouldn’t hire Mother Teresa, just because she is Mother Teresa...
Lolz
Rockstar and good person shouldn’t be different. A rockstar shouldn’t be a rockstar at the expense of other people. Some rockstar people can be toxic to a team and some good people can also be toxic to a team. Ideal candidate is a rockstar and good culture fit, imo.
Collaborative rockstars are the best. But they require awesome management to thrive. They won't last long at a place that doesn't value them
True
Dont hire rockstars because they jump right i they start jiving.
How are they rockstars if they have ego? ;)
Hiring over qualified people is often bad for both parties.
doesn’t matter, as long as candidate is diverse - that matters the most today!!
lol
I believe Rockstars are situational. Every company small or big has some people who are driving the projects and pushing them through. Yes there are some people who are perceived as Rockstars by the people who underestimate themselves.
Rock stars have egos, but a good manager should be able to work it out!
Work it out = exploit
