I'm interested in an SRE position with the Office team. I've heard that Microsoft's recruiters rarely follow-up on applications from the Careers site. If this is the case, what's the best way to get your resume to the hiring manager or the correct recruiter?
MS recruiters are terrible at follow through. They can slow things down by months. As soon as you can get a hiring manager contact info, work with them to get an interview loop scheduled or else you might never get past the screening phase
Haha that is total bs
Do you know why the recruitrts rarely follow up on applications ? Because just like everything else at Microsoft, they're substandard.
Oh fakyadela, how much time do you have for ranting about Microsoft? Didn't you get bored already? π
If Microsoft is substandard.... why are you working there? honest q, not poking fun.
If you are a fresh college grad, how does the referral process work? I'm fit race + gender and I still don't get contacted. I don't know how it works since there only one link to apply for all of MSFT for fresh grads.
If you don't work at MS how are you on Blind as an MS employee? What back door bullshit did I miss?
Gal ask Blind
At least for msft it is best to contact hiring managers directly. Recruiters here in my experience are not as active as compared to the counterparts
Thanks for the info, everyone! I had a feeling hunting down the hiring manager was my best bet. Let the hunt begin. π
seriously though, ms recruiters, I haven't met one yet who met the standards of expectation for the three startups I worked prior to here. I genuinely think recruiting is currently our greatest weakness. the expectations for results are so low it's like you may as well stay home people.

Would leaving my job be a bad idea for $100k+ TC?
Find a job opening that matches your skills and interests on the career site. Contact someone you know in Microsoft and ask them to refer you for that position internally. If you get a job, the MS contact gets a small cash reward. So it's a win-win.
