TC $150K, base $110k Redwood City Does it make sense for me to get a $3000/mo luxury apartment? Will I be overextending myself and living close to paycheck-to-paycheck? This area is already boring enough, and it seems like all the places <2500 are too far removed from anything resembling lively. I know this won’t be SF, but I really need to be close to young people drinking on the weekends to stay sane
Single or married? 3k/mo if you’re single with 150k comp is a bit much unless it really increases your quality of living/ happiness significantly. If it does though, go for it cuz YOLO, but keep in mind it’ll delay when you can buy a home.
Are you considering MV? Castro has a decent amount of bars, obviously not the same as SF
If you have a friend you know, share a 2b 2ba with him/her and you can significantly premium luxury apartments at a lower cost per person
I have an apartment that cost me around 2k per month shared with a friend. To get a 1B 1Ba at the same luxury, it would cost me around 3.3k in same neighborhood
This would be truly ideal, I just don’t know anyone here
If you need to be close to young people drinking, Redwood City isn’t where you want to live. It is very suburban. The nearby Stanford folks will consider you a townie and won’t want to interact with you.
Good insight, thanks
Your TC is about the same as mine. We could afford a 3k dollar apartment. But would it be worth it? Are roommates an option? I pay about 1.5k in SF, but don't have my own place.
I do think you’re right, it’s just I don’t know anyone here and don’t want to be tied to shitty roommates for a year
