I will be moving to Boston soon. Will be working in Financial District. Any recommendation for areas where I should consider living. I am single in mid-twenties. Budget : 1500 - 3000. 1 BR or Can be 1 room in 2 BR Commute to work : 15- 30 min Looking for safe, running friendly, bars & hangout places nearby.
Which one is better, Seaport or Cambridge near MIT
Kendall area near MIT will cost you a lot, but very safe area and Cambridge is more interesting IMO than Seaport.
Thanks for the info. I thought the same. Kendall area would have better food options , networking opportunity and young crowd and chances of bending in with people. Any other points you would like to mention?
How long do you want to do this for you though? By the time you hit 30 the scene gets old. Generally speaking people go to Boston for an education and then they leave because they're degrees worth more. Even medical doctors I know don't actually work in Boston because frankly you can make more in other parts of the country. Don't get me wrong it has a great Sports scene and a bar scene but that's it. The museums are nice but to be honest they really don't change that much the museum of science is largely the same as when I first went to it around in 1986. They keep building condos and they eliminate anything that has intrinsic value meaning or purpose. It used to have small places and every little nook and cranny but now it's just your major sports and bar venues alongside the fact that small and Regional chains of pretty much closed.
Seaport for sure. Check out Fort Point if you want something cheaper.
What’s your budget and how long are you willing to commute to get to work? Those are two important factors. If you have an unlimited budget, then a downtown apartment or anywhere on the red line in Cambridge is probably a good candidate. If your budget is more limited, you’ll have to decide what key factors are really important to you.
Thanks for the info. I have updated the post.
