“Uber released its highly-anticipated safety report on Thursday revealing, among other details, that it received 5,981 reports of sexual assault in 2017 and 2018. Among those, there were 464 reports of rape. The report, which comes more than a year after a CNN investigation into sexual assault and abuse on the ride-hailing service, also noted there were 19 deaths caused by physical assault during 2017 and 2018.“ https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/05/tech/uber-safety-report/index.html
Yes, both passengers and drivers harassing each other. What a fucking waste of time. I can't believe we now have to deal with this. Why on earth passengers who are taking uber will assault the driver? What if the driver lost control and hit someone. These kinds of reports make me believe world is nearly finished.
Do you realize that in the us, uber provides 40m rides in a single month? If anything, this shows uber is really fucking safe.
This
Still must be much safer than a regular cab.
Is this significantly different from what happens outside of Ubers? If not, then maybe it's not the Ubers that are fucked up maybe it's just the world in general.
Yeah you are right.
@^ No idea what you're talking about. Nobody decides to value any company at any value. People buy Uber's shares in the hope that they'll be able to sell it at a higher price later, that's all that results in the company's valuation. It has absolutely nothing to do with making the world better or worse.
The next hot app would be like tinder + Uber which offer casual F.
Seems super low. Tons were likely not reported unfortunately.
After watching many news reports on this, the point Uber was making is this. They chose to self analyze and report due to the concerns. They challenged other ride-share companies, and taxi companies to do the same. Obviously, we don't have much data on taxis, you don't have a good channel to report and have action taken, etc... Unfortunately, that was not discussed in the news reports. They just want a story to say _Uber_ is not safe. My girlfriend had rape attempted on her by a cabbie (pre Uber days). Luckily she escaped. She didn't report it.
A lot were passengers harassing drivers, no?
About half I believe
Does direction matter?
