How is Atlassian as a company?

Recently Atlassian opened an office in Bangalore. Recruiters reached out. Wanted to know how reputed the firm is. I am currently in Microsoft. What is the work culture? How is work life balance? How is the hiring bar? What kind of work is happening?

Interviewed and got an offer. The culture seems to be very inviting and the people seem to be very nice and helpful. Super social too! Don't expect to do things alone when you're at Atlassian. They're pretty strong on their TEAM vs self. Engineers also seem solid. I think there is a big gap between the younger and senior engineers, but overall people are smart and are aware. The only problem is work. I really wish Atlassian grows and does some research-based work. The current products they have seem to be mostly a pretty CRUD app. The apps themselves seem to be engineered well, but there's no real engineering challenge I can see (possibly aside from scale but cloud providers kind of take care of that now)

Offer?

This was new grad. 110 base 30 sign on 60 RSU 10 relocation I think for SF it's a bit low but whatever cuz new grads don't have much expenses aside from loans.

Interned at their San Francisco HQ. One of the best cultures I’ve seen: Super friendly and talented people, incredible transparency.

Amazon company. Culture is really good. They’ve infused a lot of Australian culture into the actual company’s culture and values which results in a refreshingly different tech company. Most importantly it’s laid back whilst still being full of hard working people and transparency comes from the very top. Everything revolves around TEAM which means agile and ways of working are really good. Tech stacks are mixture of old and new depending on what team you join but everything is constantly being improved and theirs a big focus on cloud, microservices and adopting similar tools across the company. A tonne of my friends are going to India to onboard employees and are all amazing devs. We also do a pretty good job with integrating the offices since buying Trello and investing in remote workers. Hiring bar is high but not as high as FANG. More emphasis on system design though.
