How is life at Samsung Sunnyvale for contractors?

Samsung in general is more frugal than Amazon because its a family owned company

Lol idk if you’re korean but I am and that’s not true. Samsung is public and you can buy Samsung stock in Korea and indirectly in the states. The founding family of Samsung does exercise a ton of control over the company and its subsidiaries but I believe that’s more through clever maneuvering than through outright majority ownership. Only a small percentage of Samsung stock, I believe less than 10, is owned by Korean nationals and that’s including people not part of the family. The rest is owned by foreign hedge funds.

Depends on different teams. BTW, there is no Samsung in Sunnyvale. There is one in San Jose and another in Mountain View. Salary, WLB, job satisfaction everything depends on individual teams.

For contractors you will likely go through a company called Adi Worldlink. If you are lucky to stumble onto a good recruiter they will negotiate well for your salary since they make about 30 pct on top of your hourly rate. As an example our team hired someone back in 2018 for a rate for the individual that equates to 180K annually for him. Not the greatest but in terms of contracting you can do worse.
