Yesterday I saw a post from an L65 SDE at MSFT who is an Indian origin. The guy had i-140, 13 years in the US, and priority date of 2010. His H1B extension was filed the fourth time. He received an RFE and eventually the extension was denied. So I am curious how many times someone gets H1B Extension after i-140?
Infinite times until you get your gc.
Sure. But if it was approved three times in the past. Reject in the fourth time make me curious.
The reject reason is because there was an update to the soc codes in september 2018 and the decade old h1b extensions are getting denied. For example, computer programmer soc code is not a specialty occupation from 2017. So if the gc process started with computer programmer 13 years ago and keeps getting h1b extended till now then after 2017 It will get denied as it's not a specialty occupation anymore.
You serious it was rejected?
OP from MSFT said so.
Holysht just saw that thread...
I also read that post.
I filed for extension four times and got cleared thrice while waiting for the last extension which is on RFE. Although, there of the four extensions were due to change of employer and not because of term end.
Why it went to on RFE? You're in SDE role?
Non technical role. About RFE, my petition got approved today.
Why was it denied?
I don't know the reason. If it was approved three times in the past. Reject in the fourth time make me curious.
