Given that there is no company matching at all, do you still max out your 401k contributions? If I plan to leave the states in 5 years, should I contribute to my 401k? thanks.
Of course! If the company is not matching, IRS certainly is. You will get an untaxed growth on your funds. I would check with the lawyers, but if you left, you should not be considered a resident of the state and get your money free of state taxes.
Pinterest doesn't do any 401k matching?
401k will be the biggest scam ever.
Could you please tell me why?
How do we know taxes will be lower in our old age? The way I see the younger generation of left wing nuts moving to a more socilaistic society, chances are higher that our govt will be in more deeper debt, taxes will be high and govt may make new policies that may limit any tax benefit from 401ks.
Max out 401k and Roth IRA. Always. It’s legalized tax evasion.
10%, 4% match.
I currently can't afford to put in but when I was putting in, at minimum I put in maximum company match. Which is 4% for us. When your 55, you can do a catch-up contribution.
I’ve been maxing out 401k regardless of company match to reduce taxable income.
Thanks. By the way we share the same building at the Palo Alto office :)
I contribute as much as company matches which is 4% for PayPal
I max out my 401k. Fuck taxes and fuck the government. When I retire early I'll take it out with SEPP to avoid the 10% penalty
TIL about SEPP. Thank you!
If you can afford it, pay the max amount the IRS lets you, which currently is 19k. Regardless of company match. Everything you contribute is tax free until you withdraw.
Thanks!
But it is taxed on withdrawal right?
