My team and company wants to hire badly. As a team member I want to help my boss. How can I find good candidates for the team? Hiring is super hard in the SF Bay Area. There are so many companies that are hiring like crazy. Very hard to find and hear back from candidates. Looking for Infrastructure and Release engineers.
Persons like me who are single and want to earn more will move and work. My current location is worst.
Money
This. I make $100k in Austin. To keep my quality of life in the Bay Area, I'd need at least $250k+ I like my one bedroom apartment to myself. You want me out in SF, you got to pay me enough where I can get one on 15% of my salary.
It is simple. Pay more money than the FAANG.
Yeah the only thing that would get someone like me to the Bay is an incredibly inflated salary. The COL is just too high there. I could get a promotion and still end up having a lower quality of life in the Bay due to the cost of housing.
OP, how willing is your team to invest time in training a promising undergrad with no experience from a school not in Bay Area?
Hire remote. Problem solved
Remote. My team is completely remote at Intel. I left the Bay in 2011 and I’ve worked remotely for Bay Area companies since then.
Really is that hard to find?
Well, the new CEO might be killing off remote ppl soon.
I’m working in the SF Bay Area. 3 YOE and looking for a new SWE role. Not interested in infra/release eng roles unfortunately. However I’m not asking for high TC and I’m not a top tier engineer. Offer me 100k base and I’ll quit today and be at your office on Monday. I’ll work myself to the bone to learn new skills, become the engineer you need, and get shit done. DM if you want to talk.
There are SWE roles also which we are hiring for
@Eng am in the same boat as you.
There is literally not enough money to get me to move there. A lot of us hate the Bay Area... hell, I’m even trying to get out of Seattle and I still wouldn’t even consider a job there
At first I thought you were talking about VMware lol
East coast here pls explain the bay hate, it seems better than any city here lol
