I’ve been very sick recently and have a note from my doctors to take three weeks off. How do I go about doing this? I saw a few posts about LOA and FMLA but don’t know which one applies to me. I’ve been working here for <1 year, in case that matters. I would really appreciate if someone could explain
This is not terrible, exceptions can happen.
If this is a mental heath issue, I would be wary of disclosing it, and would strongly recommend chatting with an employment lawyer to make sure you understand your options. Same for anything that might put you into a “disabled” category, like carpal tunnel.
Otherwise, if it’s basically straightforward, will correct itself with time, and doesn’t have a stigma attached, I would just chat with manager and HR, and they will work out something.
