New to blind. Joined Microsoft out of college and have been here since. Microsoft has spoiled me with great WLB to the point where I've become way too comfortable. Didn't even switch teams in 7 years, just went along with the reorgs. Married and dual tech income so decently well off money wise. I see all my friends especially the unmarried ones or married single-income folks constantly learning, switching teams, pushing for promo and interviewing for higher TC all the time. I simply don't have the motivation to do so even though it feels like I should be, before I have kids and want the "settled" life. All I want to do is enjoy my 4 hours of work a day for 120% rewards, while learning a little and peaking at 64. Hang out with the wife and friends and travel 4 weeks out of the year. Basically I've become old and lazy. I feel like I'm missing out on something career-wise, or not fulfilling a purpose. Don't even know why I posted this lol. I guess I wanted random strangers on the internet to come troll me. Thanks for reading anyways. YOE : 8 TC: 220k
Can you give me a referral?
You don’t realize how lucky you are :)
Yoe: 4 TC: 400k Self esteem: Probably a lot lower than this guy’s.
I recently left Salesforce because I was in exactly the same predicament...went to a recently IPO unicorn, where I'm working my butt for that TC that others were getting.......I'm longing to get my WLB back much more than the learning impact I've had; trying now to teach current teammates that there is a better way to work and if I fail before I hit cliff, will likely go back
I fear this
Good luck! Hope you find the balance you want.
30 isn’t old bro.
I totally agree...that's why I thought I shouldn't be feeling this way :D
You have something which most of us blinders do not have and something which is of much more value than any TC: happiness
Which team? Can you refer me to your team?
Haha...It's in Azure PIE. I prefer to refer only people I know personally but there are tons of openings, you should feel free to apply or find a recruiter on LinkedIn for Azure if this appeals to you.
It’s not always about WLB and TC but also are you on growth trajectory intellectually as well as future proofing your skill set in your current job so you don’t become irrelevant in few yrs as history has shown us that technology shifts every 8-10 years..
Thanks for the valuable feedback. I work in Azure and mostly on distributed systems and perf/scaling, so far my career is growing normally (63 in 8 years) but I'll probably peak at this level. I always try to learn something new every few months by picking projects that will require me to go outside what I know. Hopefully that's enough.
Wow. Your situation is almost ideal. 220K along with spouse's income is not bad at all and great wlb. There's nothing for you to worry about unless you feel that you need more money, growth, responsibilities etc
Yeah, can't complain, she makes as much as me. That kind of really helps make you lazy I think. Money wise we are fine but growth wise I will probably peak here unless I want to put more effort in

Its truly heartbreaking, I can’t work. I can’t focus, isn’t there anyone who can convince Israel to stop Raffah invasion
Honestly if you're happy with your life, work and TC, enjoy it and delete blind, right now.
Lol agree ! It's your life. Do what you want with it. If trolling folks who have good WLB is what Blind is all about, I should reconsider staying here - since I have a similar story to share ;)
You are right of course. Everyone talks about blind and I avoided it till today. Wanted to post about my laziness and disappear. Perhaps I can inspire more people to be lazy lol. Have a good day
