What if there were no sillicon valley, Seattle and New York in the US. Would you still immigrate to the US and live in boring states such as Kansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Ohio?
Would they pay the same?
States like Mississippi are the real essence of the US and the reason to come here. Read about what the American dream means. Start from scratch, own your land, build your name and business and leave a legacy. This tech scene, big cities, liberalism, SJW infestation etc is superficial fluff that will pass.
Depends. Can I still make it rain on dem hoes (aka would the pay be comparable to what SV pays today)?
Given there are no hoes in SV and only Indian SWEs, you probably have better chance raining on a hoe in mis.
I’d prefer going as a tourist, and not as a working immigrant. Get some good bbq. See all the history, and museums. Watch a show or two at the grand ole opry, and then gtfo. I doubt people in many of these states would like seeing foreigners, who don’t look like them, making decent money. But, I have been wrong before.
You know there are more African Americans in these states than those other ones you claim to be "great", right?
As I have said, have been wrong before and might be wrong now too. My impression of these states is very naive. In general, the south seems to get a bad rap for racism than the western seaboard. But it also has the whole “southern hospitality” thing going on. I don’t know. I would have to live in one of these states for an year or two.
One H1b indian goes to California to work for Apple. His parents stopped by his $1M 700sqft house and told him, " oh my god, you live like a servent and indian food is so overpriced. Since you have experience, why dont you come back to India?" Then they visited his idiot brother in MISSISSIPPI for no name company. They werent expecting much, but were surprised that he was able to afford a 4000sqft mansion and a country club membership. His parents told him "you are living like a king. Can we move in? Your mom will cook you all of your favorites?" To which the brother replied..."well thanks to my investment in Apple stock, my wife and I are retired and I learned to cook for myself"
which brother are you? the sucker? or the winner?
Neither...I found a happy medium. No desire to be king nor servent, but enough to enjoy the comforts of modern American life.
Immigration in tech is $$$ based no one cares about city
Just fyi, more Indians live in these "boring" states than the tech hubs. The tech hubs are typically the cream of top, while India has a 1 billion population. So yes, absolutely they keep coming, and will keep doing so.
Absolutely not. I came to the US because pay in tech is considerably better, with a reasonable drop in everyday life quality. If only flyover states existed, the pay raise wouldn't be worth it, and I'd go home
If they pay the same, sure.
You’re boring
