I'm a SWE 8 grade at Intel Santa Clara, with 6 YOE (10 including PhD), and I make 150/40/30, so 220k TC. Is this a good salary in Intel? And comparing with other tech companies? I have a chance to get a rise and I'm trying to figure out what is a good compensation.
Seems good for Intel...
what kind of work are you doing at Intel ? OS level software ?
design engineering G7 155K base and 50K+ bonus rsu.
Sounds like a good salary
How many years at Gr7?
Why do you work for intel if you are a swe and based in the Bay Area? Move to a software company. They pay a lot more.
I liked the project
That makes sense. If TC is a concern though, you can probably do better elsewhere.
Good salary for your yoe for Intel
At Intel, do they differentiate SWE and HWE salaries?
Yes SwE gets more and is promoted faster . All demand and supply
It's low. I know from multiple folks in SC that intel has done a market adjust for two straight years for EE / O performance level. Both adjustments have been in the 9% to 12% range. So anything less than a base of ~175 at 8 in SC is low. But maybe the adjustment wasn't done across multiple groups. Stocks is better than average compared to intel standard though. Also new hires are starting with 10 to 15% higher pay than internally promoted ones. So another reason to leave
Thanks for the info. I was hired one year ago, so there is a chance my salary is the result of that adjustment already
Not true .. the base depends on how fast u get to 8.. if it took you 15 years to get 8.. the base will be 175k .. else 10-12 years (without PhD) 140-150 ..with PhD (7-10 years)..
175k is a grade 9 salary .. though the band is as high as 220k..
Seems low. But am in the same boat too...๐ gr7 PhD with 7yoe 130/15/8
Does 130 include geo differential?
Nope. Am in Hillsboro
What are your work hours? If you have work hours less than 40, I think the salary is great
40 hours
Thatโs good because you can do other activities outside work
