Initially was reached out by recruiter for GCP, but due to location constraint, it got changed to Google Corporate Engineering, wanted to know what are insiders view on this org? Edit - I right now work for MSFT Azure, was wondering if this would a good move, so need googler/Nooglers/xooglers inputs..
They make some strong products. Some of their stuff is better than GSuites products. Some of it eventually becomes offered to customers.
The job is the same at the end of the day (writing code, building applications).. compared to other SWE roles you have more complex business logic but much less scale.
Do they make customer facing products, what are the products they own? How is the WLB?
Generally the products are for use by Googlers. Some of them may grow into customer facing products, but that is not super common. The goal of the org is to make Google operate more efficiently, not to produce external products. I'm sure WLB varies by team like anywhere else.
Do you like service now?
Is the level of interviews for Corp eng same as the other customer offered product teams?
2nd class org, can be hard to xfer out.
