Yeah, it's a spectator sport for current employees.

Itā€™s a good question, and maybe thereā€™s a valid reason you can throw at recruiters and interviewed when asked

If Google is your goal, thereā€™s no reason to wait. Just make sure you are well prepared for the interview and go for it!

Don't wait. Avg tenure is 2yrs now. 1yr is not crazy anymore.

You can easily say Amazon culture isn't for you as the reason.

TC or GTFO

Google doesn't have any L3 headcount right now, so you wouldn't match to a team. I'm not sure the recruiters will even put you into the pipeline. I would wait until you're a solid L4 candidate.

Amazon litcoder OP Jun 9, 2019

how many yoe for solid l4 candidate?

Amazon bCxp50 Jun 9, 2019

Google is pretty conservative with leveling and YoE isn't as important as scope and quality of experience; at a minimum, you'll want to have been an L5 at Amazon for about six to twelve months (long enough to survive one OLR and perform well in the design and behavioral interviews), whenever that occurs.
