Investment Due Diligence Jobs

How do you find jobs in this space? I’m looking at making a move to another company and everyone stays in their positions forever, so it seems like these jobs don’t open up often.

What's your background? Education, experience, industry etc?

Graduated with a degree in Finance 9 years ago from a large state school. CFA. I currently do manager due diligence at a $1.4B RIA across all asset classes. I was one of the first employees so I also have experience building infrastructure from the ground up in other areas (client reporting, marketing). I also lead the ESG investing efforts for a few clients (small though as a % of AUM).

The key is to network and connect with folks at companies way before a position opens up. If you're talking pension funds etc, then you're correct, these jobs are tough to come by, but they do open up. You just need to know well in advance of when they do, and that's accomplished by networking and becoming a thought leader on LinkedIn etc. The other option is to look at VCs, PEs, and in-house investment teams at corporates around the country. There's quite a few of those as well. Then there's always the Corporate Development route which can be exciting too.

A few firms that do this are independent and specialize in the area. I suggest, since you’re thinking of making a move, start with building a consulting practice. Would love to discuss more about this.
