Is Salesforce really Innovative as it claims to be?

Hmm a sales related company marketing itself, I wonder lol

The CRM / Service / Marketing on the web is old news. It’s solid technology, and the golden goose but not innovative. The intelligence stuff that I’ve seen coming out is the most innovated stuff I’ve seen from this company lately. The approach of “building it in” vs delivering tools is probably delaying its entry to the market and prompting discussion like this.

They ask questions like they are google. Fuckin java sweat shop

I have used their products , pretty routine stuff but then it makes salespeople look cool so money flows.

I’ve worked both at Microsoft and at Salesforce. Real innovation in Microsoft happens only in Research division - of which 95% never sees light of day. Rest of the divisions have hard time catching up with competition- let alone innovate. Salesforce does not worry too much about established markets. They focus on areas which are nascent and immature. This means innovation has to be done to actually push anything out. The other major difference is that Salesforce is able to get stuff out to production very fast (few months) compared to Microsoft (years). This means that even the truly innovative stuff Microsoft produces has already been released by competition before Microsoft is able to release. All these factors combine to make me conclude that Salesforce does edge out Microsoft in innovation from end user perspective.
