My 6-yea- old MacBook Pro finally died. Shopping for a new laptop but I hate new MacBook's keyboard. Surface Book 2, on the other hand, looks like a transformer and can be used as both tablet and portable laptop and even some casual gaming with its GPU. How's its reliability? Has anyone used it for long term and had any complain about it? Does Microsoft offer any discount for employees?
I don't think the surface laptop is a suitable replacement for a MBP. If you didn't care about gpu I'd suggest the high spec Pixel book. I think you might get a slight discount. Head on down to the Microsoft store, and consider that added warranty.
Lol A pixelbook is not a laptop. It's not even a tablet. Don't know what the heck it is.
Unless you're really trying to develop for Windows or iOS you can use it as a Dev machine. Supports Android studio and can run a web development environment. I think you can also run some/all native Linux programs. It's got a little less horsepower than a MBP, but it also tops out at like $1700
If you're looking for a detachability in a laptop then Surface Book 2 is the best option.
I'm just not sure about its long term reliability. If it's not reliable, I will just buy an iPad and a Dell XPS.
I've had one for a year now and I really love the power when it's attached and the portability when it's detached.
I think you really want Dell XPS. Just go for it 🙂
I wouldn't be hesitate to buy XPS if it had a GPU.
Book 2 is good if you are fine with it being a bit bulky for a tablet.
Xps is good too but Book 2 has a better build quality .. youll feel it once you check both in person.. can try at ms store
One thing to note Op: if you havent actually tried the mbp keyboard and just think you wont like it, i urge you to try. I started liking it after using it every day. If you have tried it extensively before, then disregard this comment
How we’ll surface book 2 handles regular work load ?
I'd say go for Surface Laptoo 2 Matte Black
Then I lose the detachability and Nvidia GPU. I would buy a Dell XPS then
